I am honored to host this site dedicated to the life and times of the great William "Bill" Mandel. Historical as well as an historian, Bill is an important resource for the world community. His perspective from the front lines of free speech through the 50s and 60s, as well as his sense of the world through his intensive study and travel in the USSR/Russia throughout this century, give him powerful insight into the current world situations.
Bill's years with Pacifica's radio network at station KPFA, 94.1, Berkeley, California (broadcast over WBAI, New York, and KPFK, Los Angeles, for the first 10 years of their Pacifica programming tenure, and then intermittently until his firing for the gag order in 1995), where he was given the green light to create the now standard listener call-in, or "talk radio," program format, prove Bill as an invaluable asset to the community at large for creativity, ingenuity, constituency and perspective.
