I have just read "saying no.." and think it is one of the most interesting books I have read. Interesting because it is written by an activist not an academic, a thinker not an intellectual. I live in England and I am a second generation Irish woman who has been active in Irish community politics over here. Reading Bill's book not only gave me an insight into American politics of that period but confirmed to me the importance of all people in making a contribution to society to ensure equality and justice for all. It also showed taht noone is given equality or justice but all people of whatever era have to fight for their rights and the rights of those who are the most vulnerable in our society, our country, our world. We need more books like this to show that wee can individually and collectively make a difference.
